Regulation (EC) No 767/2009 sets new rules on the placing and use of feed and will apply from September 2010 onwards.
The objective of this Regulation is to harmonise the conditions for the placing on the market and the use of feed, in order to ensure a high level of feed safety and thus a high level of protection of public health, as well as to provide adequate information for users and consumers and to strengthen the effective functioning of the internal market.
The existing legislation on the circulation and use of feed materials and compound feed (i.e. Directives 79/373/EEC, 80/511/EEC, 82/471/EEC, 83/288/EEC, 93/74/EEC, 96/25/EC and Decision 2004/217/EC) will cease to apply from September 2010. Article 29 of the feed marketing regulation provides for some amendments in Regulation (EC) No 1881/2003 on additives for use in animal nutrition.
