The board of governance is responsible for establishing the framework and main lines of the policy which has to be carried out It takes into account both the sector's and the public interest.

Composition of the board of governance, appointing organizations and seat repartition are fixed by the Social Economic Council (SER). The board of governance's time of session is two years. On 1 January 2012 a new time of session has started which will continue until 31 December 2013.

The board meetings are public. The meeting documents (in Dutch) can be downloaded on the public part of the MVO website.

For the 2012-2013 session the board of governance has 12 members, of whom 3 are appointed by employee organizations (unions). For the board's seats reserved for FNV Bondgenoten in this period there are vacancies.
