 EU authorisation GM oilseeds

GMOs – including GM oilseeds - are only allowed to be imported in the European Union when their commercial introduction has been authorized by either the EU Council or the European Commission.

For a complete picture of the GM oilseeds that have been authorised by the EU or are still pending approval, please click here for soybean and here for rapeseed/canola.

The EU applies a zero-tolerance to the import of GM oilseeds that have not been authorised by the EU, even if the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has already considered these GMOs to be safe.
