The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)

In 2003 the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) was established to deal with issues related to the sustainability of palm oil production. It was initiated by Unilever, WWF and Malaysian Palm Oil producers. Since then numerous companies have become a member of the organisation. A complete overview of the members can be found on www.rspo.org. MVO is a member of the RSPO.

In November 2005 the yearly general assembly meeting of the RSPO adopted the Principles and Criteria for Sustainable palm oil production. In 2007 they were reviewed and adopted again. Also the certification protocol was established then.

MVO closely follows all RSPO developments and informs relevant Dutch stakeholders thereof. As such MVO currently is an active member of the RSPO Working groups:

  • Trade and Traceability
  • Communication and Claims
