	09.02.2012 Tijdelijke Nederlandse goedkeuring certificatieschema's verlengd tot juli 2012 De Nederlandse Emissieautoriteit (NEa) heeft de tijdelijke goedkeuring van een aantal certificatieschema's die de duurzaamheid van biobrandstoffen moeten aantonen, waaronder dat van de RSPO, verlengd tot juli 2012. 	26.01.2012 Consument ziet rol voor bedrijfsleven in verduurzamingsproces Uit het Nationaal Duurzaamheidsonderzoek dat afgelopen december namens duurzaamheidsproject 1.000.000 druppels werd gehouden, blijkt dat consumenten een duidelijke rol zien weggelegd voor het bedrijfsleven. Het bedrijfsleven neemt nog niet voldoende zijn verantwoordelijkheid, zo zeggen veel respondenten. Van de 992 respondenten vindt 96% dat bedrijven de plicht hebben om bij te dragen aan een beter milieu.  Read more
	25.01.2012 Belgische Alliantie voor Duurzame Palmolie officieel van start Op vrijdag 20 januari ondertekenden verschillende sectorfederaties van de Belgische voedingsindustrie het Charter van de Alliantie voor Duurzame Palmolie. Hierbij stellen ze zich als doel om tegen eind 2015 de palmolie in de producten voor de Belgische markt duurzaam te maken. Om dit te realiseren zal elke sector een jaarlijks actieplan uitwerken.   Read more
	12.01.2012 Kabinet: verkennende gesprekken met buurlanden over verduurzaming soja In een aantal sectoren, waaronder de sojaketen, worden met de buurlanden verkennende gesprekken gevoerd over verduurzaming van productie en distributie. Wat soja betreft gaat het om Duitsland, België en Engeland. Het Initiatief Duurzame Handel, opgericht om de verduurzaming van ketens te ondersteunen, kan als een succes worden gezien. Dit melden de ministers Rosenthal (Buitenlandse Zaken) en Verhagen (Economische Zaken, Landbouw en Innovatie) in hun antwoord op Kamervragen over de grondstoffennotitie.   Read more
	22.12.2011 100% Verantwoorde soja binnen vier jaar Organisaties binnen de Nederlandse sojaketen streven ernaar om binnen vier jaar over te schakelen op 100% verantwoorde soja. Dit blijkt uit de intentieverklaring die op 15 december jl door een grote groep bedrijven en organisaties binnen de sojaketen is ondertekend.   Read more
	20.12.2011 Dutch Market Commits to Responsible Soy On Thursday 15 December 2012 a large group of companies and associations involved in the Dutch soy chain signed a letter of intent to move to responsible soy in 2015. Signatories included the Dutch Feed Industry Association (Nevedi), FrieslandCampina, the Dutch Dairy Association (de Nederlandse Zuivelorganisatie NZO), the Dutch Meat Association (Centrale Organisatie voor de Vleessector (COV)), The Dutch Farmers Union (LTO Nederland), The Product Board for Poultry and Eggs, the Product Board MVO and the Dutch retailers Albert Heijn, C1000, Jumbo, Lidl en Superunie, which ensure that 90 % of the soy use in The Netherlands is covered. WWF and Solidaridad and 4 other Dutch NGOs support the initiative.   Read more
	20.12.2011 IDH starts Soy Fast Track Fund IDH has set up a Soy Fast Track Fund with the goal to 'upscale and accelerate' responsible soy production and trade. The Soy Fast Track Fund will leverage investments of producers, processors and/or buyers to increase volumes of responsible soy in the coming years. The driving mechanism is to match private investments to a maximum of 50%.   Read more

	19.12.2011 Dutch government aims for zero-duty on sustainable palm oil for food applications On 1 December the Dutch State Secretary of Agriculture Henk Bleker announced in a plenary meeting of the House of Representatives that the government aims for the abolishment of EU's import duty (MFN) of 3.8 % for crude palm oil (CPO) that meets the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) criteria.   Read more
	19.12.2011 FIE wants to keep Eco labelling exemption for food and drink products On 2 November FoodDrinkEurope welcomed the publication of the European Commission study on the possibility of the extension of the scope of the EU Eco-label to food, feed and drink products. They conclude the main finding of the report underlines that the environmental, ethical and social impacts of food production and consumption are difficult to measure and compare and environmental impact very much depends on local circumstances. Instead of prescribing specific production technologies, which may result in negative environmental trade-offs, the way forward is an output-based assessment.   Read more
	19.12.2011 European Food Sustainable Consumption and Production Roundtable adopts Report on Communicating Environmental Performance The Sustainable Consumption and Production Round Table has adopted a Report on 'Communicating environmental performance along the food chain', which identifies suitable tools and good practices for communicating the environmental performance of food and drink products and other relevant environmental information. The report includes recommendations on the information that can be used to promote food and drink products with an improved environmental performance, such as the use of certification schemes.   Read more
	19.12.2011 Unilever publishes five levers for change to stimulate consumers in acting sustainably Unilever has published the behaviour change model its marketers use to encourage sustainable changes in consumer living habits: 'Five Levers for Change'. These rules should help consumer Good manufactures to inspire consumers to live sustainably. The behavioural model is based on years of experience of Unilever research into consumer behaviour.   Read more
	30.11.2011 Jaarlijkse RSPO conferentie toont solidariteit en ambitie Van 22-24 november werd de jaarlijkse conferentie en algemene ledenvergadering van de RSPO gehouden in Sabah, Maleisië, met als thema 'RSPO Certified. Transforming the Market. Together'. De bijeenkomst werd bijgewoond door meer dan 800 mensen, afkomstig uit maar liefst 34 landen. Tijdens de bijeenkomst gaven meer dan 50 sprekers hun visie op duurzame palmolieproductie en -handel. Tijdens de algemene ledenvergadering zijn een zestal resoluties besproken onder andere over de nieuwe missie en visie van RSPO, het inleveren van zogenaamde 'time bound plans' en het aanvullen van het RSPO grievance panel met een Indonesische vertegenwoordiger.   Read more
