 Biofuels

Biofuels are fuels based upon renewable, very often bio-degradable raw materials. They may be used for stationary energy production (combustion or co-incineration in power stations, steam boilers, heat force combinations and so on) or for transport.

The Product Board MVO is paying close attention to biofuels since oils and fats and products derived thereof have a high energetic value and can in many cases be used as biofuels. Coldly pressed vegetable oils (Pure Plant Oils = PPO) may be used in a converted diesel engine, interesterified vegetable and animal oils and fats are combusted as biodiesel in a normal diesel engine, and (used) oils, fats, meals and fatty acids make a good contribution in the production of electricity and/or heat.

Suppliers and buyers of biofuels which are based upon oils and fats, regularly receive information from the product board about interesting developments concerning this subject: legislation, government policy, production capacity, product specifications, subsidies and prices.

If you want to subscribe to the (free) MVO Newsletter Biofuels (in Dutch), or if you have any other question, please send an e-mail mentioning your company name and address to Frank Bergmans (bergmans@mvo.nl) or call +31.70.3195150.
