The product board MVO does its utmost to achieve a sustainable development of the Dutch oils and fats industry, in which corporate social responsibility plays a clear and important role. Within this wide framework the product board traditionally gives its support to companies when taking action to the benefit of the environment and/or to reduce energy use per product.

 

Subjects which were under discussion during these last years, are energy saving (third medium term agreement on energy saving (MJA3)), waste matters, packaging and packaging waste, water management and emissions.

 

Where necessary and possible the product board takes the initiative for projects covering the entire chain of production and distribution and concerning logistics and energy efficiency improvement. Besides this, is sets up – in close cooperation with governmental organization SenterNovem - the Multiple Years Plan for Energy Saving on the basis of individual so-called Energy Efficiency Plans. Whenever possible the use of new technology is encouraged which benefits the environment and/or the working conditions in the sector.
