 Employee affairs

When it comes to employee affairs the Product Board MVO informs employers and employees about labor related items and developments which are relevant to the oils and fats industry, like developments in employment in the sector and legislation which has consequences for working conditions. This Is not limited to physical working conditions but also encompasses items touching employee empowerment (employee counsel) and training programs.

In the Cooperation Council for Social Affairs the Product Boards for Agriculture, Animal Feed and Wine work together with the Product Board MVO in order to set up and carry out activities which have a wider range than one sector in the domain of labor markets, employment, education and working conditions.

At the service of this Cooperation Council a Labor Division has been established (Kees Lommers, tel. 070-3708305, e-mail arbeid@hpa.agro.nl) which resides at HPA. The division's activities are concentrated on policy fields like information, study and research. The so-called Social Secretariat has been charged with the preparation and/or execution of activities of one or more participating product boards. The social secretariat collects and publishes socio-economic data on all agro-food sectors every two years.

The Product Board for Margarine, Fats and Oils (MVO) obtains socio-economic data on the oils and fats industry by means of a questionnaire which is sent to all companies which have oils and fats as their main activity. The most recent data on the oils and fats industry can be found (in Dutch) here.

The product board MVO also either provides for or facilitates courses specifically aimed at employees in the oils and fats industry and periodically sets up a seminar concerning a theme which is important to the industry.

Starting 2010 the Product Board for Margarine, Fats and Oils (MVO) is investing extra in the domain of Work and Education, mainly because of the signing of the Letter of Intent for the Programme Labour Market and Training (PAO). In order to keep all people involved in the oils and fats industry posted when it comes to the progress of the PAO projects and other MVO activities in this domain, MVO publishes a special Newsletter Work and Education (in Dutch), on average every three months.
