The Product Board MVO has launched the MVO Knowledge Centre on 8th October 2008. This digital educational system contains a wide range of basic knowledge on the oils and fats industry and is meant to improve the level of knowledge of employees in MVO companies.
The MVO Knowledge Centre has been developed in response to the conclusions from research carried out into the educational needs in the oils and fats industry. In close cooperation with industry experts MVO has, over two years, worked at this website, which shall be managed and if necessary updated or expanded by MVO.
The site - entirely in Dutch - has the next principal chapters:
- The rules: policy items like food abnd feed quality, sustainability, healthy food, trade policy and working conditions
- The sector: company types, what do they do, which companies are involved
- The products: which consumer products does the oils and fats industry make, which raw materials and which production processes does she use
- The chemistry: what is a fat molecule's structure, in which way does this structure change through (oleochemical) processing, what are unsaturated and saturated fats
Furthermore you will find two tests which will allow the employee to check whether he or she has integrated the information offered by the Knowledge Centre.
For the subsectors animal fat production, refining and oil and fat recycling the product board has developed separate modules for employees who want or have to update their knowledge concerning their own subsector. Each module comprises a part of the total MVO Knowledge Centre, structured around the basic question: 'what should any employee working in this subsector per se know?'. These modules can be found under the same name in the MVO Knowledge Centre menu. If you have studied your module, you may pass a module test with ten questions.
