The Product Board MVO provides for or facilitates some courses which are specifically aimed at the oils and fats industry and which provide the employees in the companies an opportunity to keep their professional knowledge up-to-date. The MVO Knowledge Centre (in Dutch) offers employees the opportunity to obtain broad basic knowledge on the oils and fats industry by means of an online knowledge system, varying from food safety and work safety subjects to healthy foods and basic insight in (oleo)chemical processes. Participants may also study a part of the knowledge centre to get more information on just their own sub-sector. From 24 to 26 April 2012, the Product Board MVO organizes for the third time the course "Food Safety of Vegetable Oils and Fats". Once again, the course will be organized in the harbour area of Rotterdam. The course is at BSc level (in English) and has been particularly designed for people working in the oils and fats sector. The course will focus on the food safety aspects related to the vegetable oils and fats chain starting from the arrival at the port of Rotterdam until the receipt at the margarine plant. The course will combine theoretical lectures by experts from industry with case studies. In addition, excursions to an oil storage facility, a refinery and a margarine factory are part of the course. MVO also facilitates the workshop GRIP op de Arbeidsmarkt’ (in Dutch). During this workshop P&O managers and advisors of oils and fats companies are offered an insight in the options for satisfying their demand for qualified personnel, and thereby expanding their horizon beyond simple personnel advertisements. Furthermore the product board facilitates the Cursus Preventiemedewerker (in Dutch) twice a year. Employees who are inn charge of personnel safety in MVO companies can get an overview of all aspects of their role, their tasks and their responsibilities, and answers to questions which arise in practice.
